One of the basic principles of leadership I learned as an Army Cadet was leading by example. Whether that was in my physical fitness, work ethic or the care I took in my appearance. Part of creating an atmosphere to grow your potential leaders is modeling leadership. Simply put, people emulate what they see from their leaders. What you value and emphasize, they will value and emphasize. You, as the leader, create the climate for your organization.
Consequently, as we grow as leaders, so will the teams and the individuals we lead. Our teams will only go as far as we as leaders go. We create the ceiling in our organizations. And we cannot model what we do not possess. What is your plan as a continuous learner to raise the ceiling in your organization?
